NAC Museum

The football club has a rich history in terms of sports (including a national championship (1921) and winning the KNVB Cup (1973). But perhaps even more so on a societal level. Bi-weekly, many thousands of people from Breda and the surrounding areas make their way to the Rat Verlegh stadium for the famous "Avondje NAC". The stadium is a meeting place: for groups of friends, for fathers and sons, sometimes for complete strangers who happen to share the same passion.

Around the turn of the century, a group of enthusiastic supporters took the initiative to make the history of this special club tangible. This led to the opening of the NAC Museum in 2002. It is housed on the railway side of the Rat Verlegh stadium, below the passionate Sector G.

The museum is full of stories. As a visitor, you are taken back to the founding meeting of the club and of course, you get to relive the cup final victory. But you also relive sad events, such as the SLM disaster at the Surinamese airport of Zanderij. One of the victims was the crowd favourite Andro Knel.

In 2014, the museum was significantly modernised. In an intimate cinema, you experience the "Avondje NAC" as if you were on the field. There are numerous interactive screens that delve deeper into topics, and many items are now enhanced by the availability of videos and audio recordings.

A tour of the museum gives a football enthusiast a glimpse into the soul of a true people's club. The lack of an extensive trophy cabinet is not a problem. The NAC Museum proves that cups and titles are not a requirement for a lively history.
